About
Who are you?
I’m a change agent, public speaker, founder & CEO of Nave - a Kanban analytics suite that helps teams improve their performance through data-driven decision making. When I’m not catering to my two little ones, you might find me absorbed in a good heavyweight boxing match or behind a screen crafting a new blog post.
What do you do for a living?
I help managers make reliable data-driven forecasts and consistently deliver on their commitments (all while managing happy, motivated and engaged teams!).
What are you going to talk about at FlowCon?
I’m going to walk you through the 5-Step guideline for managing items of different sizes in Kanban.
What are you the proudest of?
Building a company that helps Agile businesses across the globe manage their work effectively and improve their flow.
What speaker and/or topic would you like to see at FlowCon?
I’d love to explore the topic of leadership maturity. It's important for leaders to move their focus on what they may be missing within their leadership style, rather than dwell on what's going wrong with a project, or even a person. We don’t talk about this behavior enough and it has the potential to make or break business growth.
If you were an art piece, which one would it be?
I’d be an abstract painting. A one that has multiple meanings based on how you perceive it.
What's your favorite band, artist or song?
Tiësto - The Business. In fact, here is how much my team and I love it https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6910225589949845504
Sum up your session or workshop in only 1 sentence
I’ll teach you how to deliver results in a consistent and predictable manner, by taking control of your management practices.
What are the 3 top takeaways from your session or workshop?
- The main goal of assessing the size of your work in Kanban is to evaluate whether there is a risk of breaking your commitments. You should not spend more than a couple of minutes performing this assessment.
- Don’t cut your stories artificially just to fit them into a timebox or to make your metrics look nicer. When it comes to splitting stories you should always approach it by putting yourself in your customer’s shoes.
- It’s not about the size of your work items, it’s all about how effectively you manage your workflow. The only prerequisite to hitting your targets consistently is to optimize your systems for predictability.
